You Need To Unplug If You Want To Recharge!

“Everybody needs some time to rejuvenate, refresh, recharge
and begin again.”

― Revathi Sankaran

Start By Setting Some Healthy Boundaries...

Technology has indeed transformed the way we live. Technology has given us great fun, more freedom and additional flexibility. It has also opened our eyes, minds and hearts to a much greater world perception.

We are now, more than ever, better connected and this fact seems to go both ways. While this new technology provides what we need when we need it, it also takes what we need when we most need it – that being time to rest and recharge our energy.

When we are continually plugged in, part of our energy and focus remains fixated on the things to come. We live in anticipation of what is to come and we miss the moment we are currently in. This constant pull subtly depletes our energy core, even when we are trying to stay refreshed.

Today I want to encourage you to take this simple challenge. Then you can begin to experience what more is possible when you are fully present for your life.

  • Take time to completely unplug for 24 hours.
  • Then pay close attention to what you experience.
  • Last, repeat this exercise weekly. You will quickly begin to see life in a whole new way!

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt

Create What Matters The Most...

Now is the perfect time to identify what matters most to you. It is a powerful exercise to reflect upon your values as well as looking at how your actions measure up. You will quickly see the areas where you are living on purpose and where there is room for development.

The advantage of consciously choosing to live what you value is that you will experience far less regret and a great deal more joy, purpose and satisfaction in your life.

Make time this week to identify what you truly care about. Then choose to intentionally live a life that follows your values.

  • Begin by identifying the top five values dear to you
  • Define what it means to live each of those values
  • Finally, decide how you will live intentionally!

Experience How Less IS More!

“When you are content to be simply yourself and don't compare or compete, everyone will respect you.”
― Laozi

Enough IS All You Need...

Most people want to feel more invigorated, content and connected in their daily lives. However, in their pursuit of “the good life”, they have gotten off track. It turns out that the more they acquire and pack into each day the less they actually enjoy it.

Several studies have shown that when people live in excess they feel more overwhelmed, anxious and stressed. There is good news. When you make the choice to trim things down and simplify, you can quickly create the ease that you have desired.

I encourage you to take one step this week to create the time and space to enjoy what matters most in your life!

  • Begin by clearing out the clutter.
  • Then, create one day free of obligations each week. YOU deserve the time to yourself!
  • Finally, make the most of what you already have. You CAN have too much!

“My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.”
― Jim Valvano

Flush Out Those False Beliefs!

Simply put, FEAR breaks down to False Energy Against Reality! False beliefs!

Do you ever feel stuck in a rut of unhelpful beliefs, leading to unhealthy habits causing unconscious actions?

This checklist may give you an idea of what beliefs need updating!

Step 1 is to complete these sentences:

For example:

When under pressure I ……….……………………….

I often feel guilty about ...........……………………….

When ………………………. happens I stress out and feel like ………………………....

My Achilles' heel (greatest weakness) is ..………….

I am always trying to stop  …..…………. from happening.

When the unexpected happens I ……………………..

I always try to ...………………………………………..

The biggest obstacle that stops me loving and approving of myself is ……………….......

What drives most of my behavior is ………………….

I am afraid of ..…………………………………………..

I seek my ……………'s approval
(always / mostly / usually / occasionally)

My most frequent negative and uncomfortable emotion is feeling  …………………......

The feeling I dislike the most is ……………………….

I need to learn to ………………………………………..

Congratulations - that took courage!

Step 2 - Now you have identified your false beliefs, go back and re-do the exercise writing how you would like to be.

For example:

When under pressure I … suffer great anxiety

becomes

When under pressure I … think about the situation calmly and ask for support as needed.

“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”
― Marcel Proust

Celebrate the power that being grateful gives to you...

i am gr8ful for life, by Kim Serafini, is more than a book, it is a CELEBRATION of your life. It is an opportunity to raise the vibration of the world by looking at your life in a new way and being gratitude with what you have and those you LOVE!

Take the challenge! There is someone in your life right now that deserves your gratitude and with a couple of keystrokes and the click of a button you can immediately show it to them! It is not about whether you want to, it is about do they deserve it. Just as there is great power in forgiveness, there are also huge benefits to showing gratitude to people who deserve it.

The power of gratitude is INFINITE!

Thank you for reading each week! It is you who is special and you who are infinitely blessed!

With gratitude,
Dr. Rob
