There are little to no life skills as powerful as learning to accept and enjoy what you have and who you are. Face it, there are just some things in life you simply cannot change, like certain circumstances, people or the weather. When you allow your irritation to turn into complaining, you create even more negative energy which can send you into a downward spiral pretty quickly. However, you can free yourself from this pattern by practicing acceptance of what is. Sure, it is a bit uncomfortable at first but it does get easier. From a place of acceptance, you can even learn to enjoy what is. And this, my friends, is real growth! For example, here in Minneapolis it snowed more than 6 inches overnight. Sure, it would be easy to complain about the snow, but why not just accept the snow fall as another challenge. How will I overcome this encounter as I drive to work? I choose to crank up the tunes on my favorite station (KTIS 98.5 FM) and sing out loud. Make this trip a fun trip. Pump up the positive energy and shut down the negative thoughts.
